How can I limit search results to only articles written by a nurse?
To limit results to nurses in searches of multiple databases (like the KSU SuperSearch), select the "Advanced Search" option, and in the first box, select the AU or Author field from the drop down box. Search within this field for postnomial credentials, such as RN. It is best to include credentials both with and without periods, such as "R.N. or RN". Add your subject search terms in the following boxes.
This will retrieve results with "RN" appearing anywhere in the author field, but does not limit to the first author, so results with nurse contributors are included.
To retrieve articles where the first author is a nurse, try using the CINAHL Plus database, and select "Advanced Search". Enter your terms in the search boxes at the top, and halfway down the Advanced Search page, on the right hand side, select "First Author is Nurse".
Additionally, please consult our Nursing Research Guide for your other nursing research needs. This guide includes lists of nursing journals, databases and other resources to help with your research.
