First, check to be sure you are in an area designated as a quiet area in the library. If you are in a designated quiet area and you feel comfortable doing so, it's often best to simply ask the person or group to be a little quieter. Sometimes people don't realize they are being loud and will quiet down if asked.

If you have already asked or feel uncomfortable asking, go to the Check Out Desk and explain the situation. A library staff member will be glad to assist with loud patrons or groups.
