Q: Why isn't the library open 24/7?
The KSU Library System is currently unable to offer 24-hour service at either the Sturgis or Johnson Libraries due to a lack of funding. Without funding, the library system cannot afford the additional staffing and security measures that would be needed to operate a 24/7 library.
In addition, the KSU Library System does not control the 4th floor of Sturgis Library, which belongs to other departments.
We understand that 24-hour access to the library is important to the KSU community. Library Administration is advocating for facilities and staffing to provide 24/5 access in the future. In the meantime, we are able to offer 24/7 research assistance through our chat service.
