Q: Can I watch a DVD on a computer in the library?

The computers in the Information Commons at Sturgis Library do not have disc drives. The Macs and the laptops available for checkout don't have disc drives either.

Some of the PCs at the Hive at Johnson Library have disc drives. If you need to watch a DVD, please visit the Hive and look for a computer with a tower. If you have trouble watching a DVD, it may be because some file types don't work well with Windows Media Player. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. Click "All Programs."
  3. Open the "VideoLAN" folder.
  4. Open "VLC Media Player."
  5. Open the "Media" menu and choose "Open Disc."

You can watch streaming videos on all the library computers.
