Question

Q: What is Duo two-factor authentication?

Answer

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a more secure way of logging into an online account like your KSU email. Two-factor authentication combines "something you have" and "something you know" to securely log you in to your KSU account.

What is Duo two-factor authentication?

University Information Technology Services will be using Duo, a two-factor authentication solution, to provide an extra layer of security for your NetID. Duo is designed so that no one but you can access your account, even if your password becomes compromised.

Duo will eventually be used for authentication for many campus technology services but is first coming to OneUSG Connect and KSUmail, Office 365, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Who needs to use Duo?

Between November 14 and November 27, KSU students, faculty and staff can opt in to using Duo. Beginning November 28, Duo will be required for all faculty and staff accessing OneUSG Connect (including student assistants).

All students will be required to use Duo beginning in February 2019.

For more information about Duo or if you believe that your KSU account may have been compromised, please contact UITS or visit the links below.
