Question

Q: Do electronic articles requested through interlibrary loan (ILL) meet accessibility needs?

Answer

The KSU Libraries Resource Sharing Team is committed to ensuring that all library users receive the materials they request through Resource Sharing – including Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Scan & Deliver services – in a format that is accessible and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II. Whenever possible, the Resource Sharing Team applies optical character recognition (OCR) to electronic ILL documents to ensure that the text is compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

Electronic ILL requests are often sent directly to KSU library users by the lending library through an automated delivery process. If you receive an ILL document that does not meet your accessibility needs, or if you need document remediation beyond OCR, the Resource Sharing Team can provide additional remediation upon request. Please indicate your preference for an accessible/remediated file on the article request form or contact the Resource Sharing Team by email at illoan@kennesaw.edu, or by phone at 470-578-6002.
