Question

Q: What is the difference between a general database and a specialized database?

Answer

General databases, such as Academic Search Complete, search articles in all types of fields.

Specialized databases deal with articles from a specific field, like ChemEd Digital Library for Chemistry or PsychINFO for Psychology.

Some databases cover both general and specialized, such as ScienceDirect, which specializes in science fields including, but not limited to, chemistry, physics, biology, etc.
