Question

Q: How do I access ebooks?

Answer

You can search for eBooks through our regular catalog or through the SuperSearch tab on the library homepage.

Searching for eBooks in the library catalog

  1. On the library homepage, click the "Books" tab.
  2. Enter your search terms. You can find search tips here.
  3. On the search results page, click "Full Access Online" at the top of the page. This will show you only eBooks that match your search terms.
  4. Click "View It" under the book title to view the eBook.
  5. Click the link to the eBook in the window that opens under the book title. Some books may have more than one link.
Click "View It" to open the window with links to the ebook, then click the link to view the ebook itself.
  6. You may need to log in to access the ebook. If you are prompted to log in, use your NetID and password to open the book.

Searching for eBooks in SuperSearch

  1. On the library homepage, enter your search terms in the SuperSearch bar.
  2. On the search results page, find the "Result Type" menu on the left side of the screen. Click "Show More."
  3. Check the "eBooks" box in the window that opens, then click "Update." This will show you only eBooks that match your search terms.
  4. When you find the book you want, click the "Full Text" link.
    1. Books may be available as PDF or EPUB within SuperSearch. You can click these links to read the books in your browser.
    2. Books that are available outside of SuperSearch will have an arrow that says "Full Text." Click this link to find where you can access the book.

eBooks are available as PDFs or EPUBs in SuperSearch, or will be available in a link to another database

If you are trying to access an eBook and you receive a message that it is in use, it means that the publisher has limited the accessibility of the eBook to one user at a time.  Some other services do not have this limitation. If you receive this or a similar message, you may want to check back later or order a copy of the print book through GIL Express or ILL.
