Question

Q: What does it mean when a database says an article is epub ahead of print?

Answer

"Epub ahead of print" or "online ahead of print" indicates that an article has been published online before the particular journal volume and number in which the article is included has been published.

You may not be able to access the full-text, online version of the article until the full journal is published. Articles in PubMed often have the "epub ahead of print" status. You can try to request these articles through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
