Question

Q: Can I renew my Interlibrary Loan (ILL) book?

Answer

It depends. The lending library determines the loan period, conditions of use, and renewals for interlibrary loan (ILL) books and materials. Failure to adhere to those conditions may cause a library to stop lending to the KSU Libraries. Your cooperation is essential to maintaining a good relationship with our lenders.

Please note the following regarding loan periods, conditions, and renewals:

  • -You cannot request textbooks or required readings for current KSU classes.

  • -Average loan periods range from 2 to 4 weeks.

  • -Loan periods start the date an item leaves the lending library.

  • -The lending library may request the immediate return of an item at any time.

  • -Some items cannot be checked out and can only be used in the library.

  • -You are responsible for all charges that arise from a failure to return a loan promptly.

  • -There is a 7-day window (3 days before your due date through 3 days after your due date) when you may request a renewal.

  • -Some items cannot be renewed, including items with "NO RENEWAL" printed on the cover label.

  • -The lending library must approve (and may decline) any renewal requests.

You may request a renewal for your ILL books, but it is up to the lending library to grant it. To request a renewal for an ILL book:

  1. Log into your ILLiad account.

  1. Click Checked Out Items under the View menu on the left side of the screen.

  1. Choose the item you want to renew by clicking the Transaction Number in the first column.

  1. Click Renew Request above the Transaction Information box (note: if you are outside of the 7-day window, there will not be a link).
